How Reticular works

  1. 01

Reads the files behind each PGT-A result

  2. Reticular at-home saliva sequencing kits for both partners.
    02

    Sequences both partners from saliva

  3. A member of Reticular’s clinical team explaining a report and answering a patient’s questions.
    03

Includes review by our clinical team

  4. 04

Returns a physician report to the clinic

Start before or after IVF. No additional embryo biopsy or cycle.

Before an IVF cycle

Pre-IVF testing

  1. Both partners collect saliva at home for whole-genome sequencing. Reticular reviews 988 genes linked to infertility and pregnancy loss.

  2. If a relevant inherited finding is identified, Reticular uses compatible PGT-A data from the IVF cycle to assess which embryos inherited it.

After PGT-A testing

Post-IVF testing

  1. Both partners collect saliva at home for whole-genome sequencing.

  2. Reticular reanalyzes the embryos’ existing raw PGT-A data against both parents to assess inheritance. No new embryo sample is taken.

No change to your PGT-A provider is needed if its raw data are compatible; Reticular confirms compatibility before embryo analysis.

Step 03 · Both options

Post-test genetic counseling, included

Patients review findings, limitations and questions with our clinical team. The patient and care team see the same report.

Results return to the ordering clinic. Patients who order directly choose clinic sharing during onboarding.

Clinic flow

Two ways to order

  • Option A

    Patient orders directly

The patient orders and pays Reticular directly, then chooses clinic sharing during onboarding.

What Embryo Report Core reports

  1. 01

    Both partners, 988 genes

Both partners are screened across 988 genes tied to infertility and pregnancy loss; a parental finding is then checked in each embryo.

  2. 02

    Chromosome result, carried through

Each embryo’s PGT-A result sits beside its gene review; where the chromosomes already explain the risk, viability genes are not separately assessed.

  3. 03

    Per-embryo gene review

Per embryo: the gene, the variant and its evidence grade. Carrier findings do not affect the embryo and are never ranked.

  4. 04

    No polygenic scores

Chromosomes and viability genes only: no polygenic scores, no trait predictions.

  5. 05

    What a result looks like

One row per embryo, ranked chromosome result first, then pregnancy-loss genes: a viability status (no known risks, moderate risk, higher risk or not assessed) and a counselor note on each.

Clinical limitations

  • It may inform the discussion; it does not diagnose a cause or make a transfer decision.
  • It complements PGT-A and the standard recurrent-loss workup; it does not replace either.
  • It reads inherited variants only; de novo variants, which arise new in an embryo, are not detected.

Who may consider Embryo Core?

Our initial focus is patients with a clinically important question after the standard fertility workup.

  1. 01

    Recurrent euploid loss

Two or more losses where the pregnancy tissue or the transferred embryo tested chromosomally normal.

  2. 02

Recurrent implantation failure after euploid transfers

Two or more high-quality euploid transfers without implantation.

  3. 03

Unexplained infertility with a normal workup

The standard evaluation is complete and normal, and the couple has PGT-A results to read.

Earlier in the journey

Parental screening can begin before IVF; embryo review follows once compatible PGT-A data are available.

For the visit

A concise patient explanation

  1. 01

Reticular reviews both partners’ saliva genomes for inherited single-gene findings, then uses compatible PGT-A data to assess inheritance in embryos.

  2. 02

You can order directly, or your physician can place the order for you to activate and pay.

  3. 03

With your permission, a physician report also goes to your reproductive endocrinologist.

Add your physician’s name before using it.

Method

How the embryo genome is read

How
We sequence both parents’ whole genomes from saliva and separate each parent’s two copies of every chromosome (haplotypes). Sparse markers in the embryo’s existing PGT-A data show which copy it inherited, stretch by stretch. From those copies we infer the embryo’s sequence and review its genes.
Why infer
Sequencing an embryo directly means amplifying picograms of biopsy DNA, which is hard to do without error, and doing it for every embryo costs more than many patients can afford. Two parental genomes cover every embryo, with no new biopsy.
Limits
De novo variants are not detected: a variant that arises in the embryo is in neither parent. In recurrent euploid pregnancy loss, most families with a finding inherited it from one or both parents (Aminbeidokhti et al., medRxiv 2025, preprint). Regions with too few markers may not resolve, and no result guarantees an unaffected embryo.
How the embryo genome is readIllustrative. Warm tones mark the two maternal copies; plum tones mark the two paternal copies. Color shows parental origin, not risk; segment boundaries are recombination crossovers.

Questions clinics ask

Clinical fit

Does this replace PGT-A?

No. The PGT-A lab and chromosome result stay unchanged; Core adds a single-gene review of the existing data.

Is this polygenic testing?

No. Core does not report polygenic scores or trait predictions.

Which PGT-A labs are compatible?

Compatibility depends on the patient’s ability to obtain the raw data files from their PGT-A cycle. We counsel and assist the patient through this process.

Clinic workflow

Does the clinic have to send anything?

No. The patient authorizes their PGT-A lab to release the data using Reticular’s lab-specific guide.

How long does it take?

About 3–4 weeks, most of it saliva sequencing and the PGT-A data request. Once both are in, our analysis is quick. Kits arrive two to three business days after the order.

Is there a cost to the clinic?

No. The patient pays Reticular directly; the clinic does not collect payment.

Who sees the report, and how does the physician copy work?

For physician orders, activation includes consent to return results to the ordering clinic. Patients who order directly choose clinic sharing and name the recipient during onboarding.

Does Reticular integrate with our EMR?

Not yet. The physician report arrives as a PDF to attach to the chart.

Laboratory and counseling

What is Reticular’s current laboratory and counseling coverage?

Reticular’s CLIA certification and CAP accreditation applications are in progress; neither has been issued. Counseling coverage depends on the patient’s location: an active license is required where state law requires one; other states do not require a genetic counseling license. Reticular is expanding coverage toward all 50 states and confirms availability before scheduling.
